A study shows that despite the fact that two-third of the world's work is done by its women and fifty percent of its food produced by them, but the world pays women only a tenth of its income and allows them to own a mere one per cent of its property.

Women have come a long way, through subjugation and discrimination; now they are shaking up traditional pieties and preconceptions of patriarchy though organized movements.

Culture and religion play a dominant role in our society. Therefore transformation of culture is necessary. This will envisage reinterpretation of religious scriptures taking into account the women's perspectives so that men and women are treated equally.

All of society needs to be sensitized to bring about an awareness in which men's attitude towards women undergoes changed. ... more
