Jen Qin
Who are you, and what do you do at Deloitte?
My name is Jen Qin and I am an audit senior manager with the Deloitte
Banking and Securities practice in London. I work with a team
of Deloitte professionals to provide an independent view on whether
the financial reports of some of our global investment banking

What made you choose Deloitte?
I joined Deloitte New York office after graduated from university
and have stayed since then. Besides working with some of the most
talented people, serving clients with most prestigious names in
the industry, I also enjoyed many of Deloitte's diversity programs.
I was part of the Chinese business services group, having organized
and led the Deloitte team participated in many US dragon boat
races; organized firm's Chinese New Year's celebration; and represented
the firm in greeting many Chinese government delegation groups.
I was part of the working group that contributed to the initiation
and establishment of the National Asian American Society of Accountants.
In addition, the firm has an ongoing women's initiative program
that provide an opportunity for women professionals to network
and to discuss with some of the women executives in the industry
on topics such as work/life balance, how to break glass ceiling,
etc. Those programs not only expanded my professional horizon,
but enriched my view on the definition of successful woman professional.
Do you have a role model or mentor who has helped your career?
I have few role models and mentors in my life. One of them is
my father who taught me to be a person of principles and ethics.
How would you describe yourself?
I consider myself a global trotter. Born and raised in China,
I went to the US for university and spent a decade in the US.
In 2005, I came on a 2-year secondment to London. Having lived
and studies on both sides of the Pacific and worked on both sides
of the Atlantic, with friends and colleagues in many continents,
I definitely consider myself an international woman. |
