Deloitte

Maya Nehme
Who are you and what do you do at Deloitte?

This is the fifth year that I have been working with Deloitte in the audit sector. I am a Manager, and have recently moved to the London office and joined the Technology, Media and Telecommunications group, specialising in the audit of media companies. My daily activities involve meeting personnel of various functions across companies, understanding the way their businesses work in order to deliver a seamless service.

Why Deloitte? What motivated you to join us in the UK?
Deloitte's global presence fit in perfectly with my upbringing in multi-cultural Dubai. I joined the Dubai office late in 2002 and four years later was seconded to the London office with the Global Development Programme which strives to manage and link teams of people in a changing global economy. This perfectly encompasses the Firm's international presence and appeals to my pursuit for diversity in the workplace.

Have you had a mentor (or role model) who contributed to your success as a professional? How did that person impact your career?
I believe that success as a professional comes from an individual’s personal strengths as well as from receiving input from people in your immediate surroundings. I cannot say that there has been one particularly strong influence, but I do believe that it was a collective influence from all the professionals I worked with.

Tell us a bit more about yourself?
It's funny that you mention this. Just the other day I was called a construction guru by one of my colleagues in the Dubai office, while over here I'm developing expertise in the media sector. I suppose this is all a testament to the variety of options that are available to me.
