Event:'PALA BODOLER PALA - PERFORMING CHANGE'
About:On the occasion of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2014, Oxfam and its food justice campaign GROW has organized an experimental performance titled “Pala Bodoler Pala - Performing Change” on the life stories of women farmers, their struggles and strengths. The presentation has been facilitated by “Shadhona”, a cultural organization working to establish gender justice through performance. Women farmers from the grassroots will be part of the performance besides young dancers from Amrakawjon of Bogra. Being part of the ongoing campaign of Oxfam, the performance is expected to sensitize the general mass and influence the policy makers towards establishing the rights of women farmers. Organisation:Shadhona - A Center for Advancement of Southasian Culture: ‘Shadhona’ - A Centre for Advancement of South Asian Dance and Music, is a trust that was initiated, initially, with the aim of revitalizing and expanding the horizons of classical dance and music in Bangladesh. We have, through the years, expanded our horizon to include all performing arts in Southasia – indigenous and urban, including classical and contemporary. The Centre has been working tirelessly for the last two decades to promote the rich cultural heritage of South Asia among young Bangladeshis through various events, workshops and training programs. ‘Shadhona’ also believes in building regional bonds through cultural exchanges.
