Organisation:Cheyutha: Cheyutha is a community based women’s organisation facilitated by LEPRA Society. It currently operates in twin cities (Hyderabad and Secunderabad) . It responds to needs of vulnerable women and their children in a comprehensive manner by integrating social development, public health and human rights. It also facilitates positive marriages. The mission includes a)Promoting positive living among the people living with HIV/AIDS to address causes of discrimination and to work for assertion of their rights.b)Enhancing accountability for ensuring equal rights and protection from discrimination for all PLHA. c) Maximising solidarity of civil society in supporting PLHA in their assertion of rights and to voice their concerns; as well as in fund raising for development of PLHA.

About:Female feticide is the selective abortion/elimination of the girl child in the womb itself, done deliberately by the mother, after the detection of the child’s gender through medical means. This is usually done under familial pressure from the husband or the in-laws or even the woman’s parents. Unplanned pregnancy is generally the reason behind abortion. However, female feticide is a far more heinous sin than the age old practice of killing an unwanted child, even before it’s born..

Organisation:Gandhi Medical College & Hospital: About 150 yrs ago, in 1851, Gandhi hospital was stared initially as an Infirmary of 3 wards, developed into a Cantonment Hospital with 95 beds in 1900. It has progressed to King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1913 and has grown into a teaching hospital in 1958 for Gandhi Medical College with present bed strength of 1200. Presently it is a premier institution of Post-doctoral medical education and training which is fulfilling the medical and health requirements of not only twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad but also the surrounding districts besides meeting most of the demands of VIPs(Beuracrats and Ministers of Govt of Andhra Pradesh). Gandhi hospital has distinction of being the first open heart surgery centre of Andhra Pradesh and the first to have Cath lab facilities for training of DM cardiology students. Gandhi Medical College was established in 1954 and was recognized by MCI in 1956. MD (General Medicine) was started in 1977 and MCI recognized till 2002.
