Event:TRISH GREEN: FROM CRADLE TO GRAVE AND BEYOND
About:Trish Green, Research Fellow and winner of the first Women in Science Award, joins us to discuss her non-traditional route into higher education, as well as her previous and current research. Before joining the medical school, Trish was a researcher at the University of Sheffield and worked on a project that explored natural burial. She co-authored a powerful and engaging book based on this study, ‘Natural Burial: Landscape, practice and experience’ which was published by Routledge in 2014. Last summer Trish was co-investigator on a successful bid to the Economic and Social Research Council and, along with her HYMS colleague Julie Seymour, is working with scholars from Manchester Metropolitan University, York, Durham, Bath and Central Lancashire on a seminar series entitled: ‘On encountering corpses: political, socio-economic and cultural aspects of contemporary encounters with dead bodies’.
