About:A cocktail and movie night to celebrate International Women's Day. This year women and men worldwide will commemorate the day by highlighting the plight of the women of Gaza and sending an international delegation to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid.

Organisation:Codepink Women for Peace: Emerged out of a desperate desire by a group of American women to stop the Bush administration from invading Iraq. The name CODEPINK plays on the Bush Administration's color-coded homeland security alerts yellow, orange, red that signal terrorist threats. While Bush's color-coded alerts are based on fear and are used to justify violence, the CODEPINK alert is a feisty call for women and men to "wage peace."

Event:Film Showing - 'Lumo'
About:Africa's agonies are presently being deeply etched on the bodies of women. In eastern Congo on the Rwandan border, vying militias, armies and bandits use rape as a weapon of terror. Lumo Sinai was just over 20 when marauding soldiers attacked her. A fistula, a medical condition common among victims of violent rape, rendered Lumo incontinent and threatens her ability to bear children. Lumo's story is told in this documentary, which is tragic in its cruelties but also inspiring for the struggle Lumo wages and the dignity she displays. With the help of an extraordinary African hospital, she struggles to overcome shame, fear and the affliction that threatens to rob her of a normal life.
