World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) supports International Women's Day
The World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has been a Charity of Choice for International Women's Day since 2007.
As the largest voluntary movement dedicated to educating and empowering girls and young women in the world, the work that WAGGGS does globally resonates with the IWD 2026 Give To Gain campaign theme.
CEO of WAGGGS, Nadine El Achy, says:
"For more than a century, WAGGGS has given girls and young women a space to discover their voice, develop their leadership and take action to create a more equal and inclusive world. In solidarity with International Women’s Day and its 2026 theme ‘Give to Gain’, we continue to invest in the power, potential and rights of girls everywhere – knowing that when they thrive as leaders and changemakers, our communities and our world thrive with them."

"As one of the chosen charity partners for International Women’s Day, we are proud to stand alongside individuals and organisations committed to accelerating action and progress toward gender equity. Together, we can break down barriers, challenge biases, and drive meaningful change to ensure girls and women everywhere can reach their full potential as equal citizens of the world," says WAGGGS.
Donating to WAGGGS means helping create an equal world where girls can thrive.
"The funding we receive through International Women’s Day enables more opportunities for more girls to achieve their fullest potential.”

As the global umbrella organisation for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the globe, WAGGGS has gender equality at its heart and puts girls and young women at the very centre of its work. With the vision to ensure that every and any girl feels confident to lead and empowered to create a better world, WAGGGS gives girls the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge they need to raise their voices, defend their ideas, and contribute to shaping a better world. WAGGGS also plays a key role in keeping the global Guiding movement united, thriving, and growing so that it continues to create generations of happy, capable, and daring girls.
Through non-formal education programmes, WAGGGS encourages girls and young women to take the lead in their own development, learning to support each other through cooperation and teamwork while building crucial life skills. Programmes cover a range of issues relevant to girls everywhere from internet safety, climate change, menstrual health and hygiene, STEM education and careers, body confidence, leadership, and international experiences. The programmes always encourage girls to share what they have learnt more widely within their communities. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are active agents of change who dedicate time to educate, raise awareness and advocate, bringing about positive change on issues affecting girls.
WAGGGS provides impactful programmes and projects

The Surf Smart internet safety programme was developed in partnership with Norton one of Gen’s Cyber Safety brands, and has so far reached over 850,000 girls and young women giving them the tools they need to stay safe online.
Over the past twelve years, through a partnership with the Dove Self Esteem Project, the Free Being Me programme has reached over 6.5 million young lives with body confidence and self-esteem activities.
Working alongside WASH United, the Rosie’s World Menstrual Health & Hygiene programme has been delivered in 14 African countries directly reaching 90,000 girls.
As part of the Girl-Led Action on Climate Change (GLACC) programme a team of seven Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world travelled to Brazil in November 2025 to attend COP30 - the world’s largest climate change event. The delegation spoke out, shared their concerns and their key demands to the international community and called for greater involvement for girls and women in the climate debate. GLACC is funded by the AKO Foundation and UNICEF.
For ten years, the YESS Girls international exchange programme in partnership with NOREC has given young women from the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement in Africa and Asia-Pacific a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and volunteer in another country for six months to one year.
WAGGGS is always looking for new partners to help in widening opportunities for girls and young women in more locations. If your organisation would like to discuss the many ways in which a partnership can work, please get in touch with the WAGGGS team directly.
