An IWD Evening with Jannica Honey
When: March 7 2019
Where: Edinburgh, United Kingdom
On the eve of International Women's Day (IWD) 2019, we welcome Edinburgh-based photographer Jannica Honey back to The Arienas Collective for an evening of inspirational and thought-provoking conversation around how we can work together to create a more gender-balanced world.
This year's IWD campaign theme is #Balance for Better. Better the balance, better the world. Jannica will share her thoughts and experiences of gender inbalance on social media, following a year of having her When The Blackbird Sings images regularly banned from Facebook. With reference to her own work, Jannica will touch on the separation between male and female bodies, and how the 'natural' woman is against social media community guidelines while the "plucked, trimmed and underfed" woman is given so much space.
We will reflect together on who the female body is for, and who controls the guidelines of what's acceptable and what is not. We will consider what a gender-balanced world might look like, and how we as individuals, and as creatives, might contribute to that.
We will also be treated to the "...gorgeous, expressive voice..." (The List) of Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Annie Booth.
