Beatrix goes Bonkers: IWD mushroom foray

To celebrate International Women’s Day, this foray introduces participants to the curious kingdom of Fungi, in the context of the history of women’s knowledge of mushrooms.

How did women become the keepers of mushroom lore?

How were mushrooms used historically and today?

And how do we differentiate the desirable from the deadly?

As we search for mushrooms, forayers will also learn about the vital ecological importance of fungi and the basic skills for identifying them, along with their fascinating cultural histories.

About the Presenter: Dr Alison Pouliot is an ecologist, author and environmental photographer and has been running mushroom forays for two decades in Australia and internationally.
