Global President, Mars Food, Drinks and Multisales
"During my career in business, I've seen first-hand how important it is for women to have a seat at the leadership table and a voice within an organization. And there's no doubt that gender diversity can help drive business success. Studies on gender diversity show that companies with a higher proportion of women on senior management teams are more likely to grow and that they outperform their rivals with 66% higher returns on investment, 53% higher returns on equity, and 42% higher sales. At Mars, we are proud that our rich leadership pipeline includes outstanding female talent, but we know we have an opportunity to even further advance diversity in leadership.
"I am playing a lead role at Mars to examine the progress we have made and the work we have left to do. Along with our work on Diversity, we feel it's critical to focus on Inclusion as well. Driving an inclusive environment where all our Associates feel valued, have a voice, and feel they belong is vital to getting the value from the differences they bring to our organization. This is one of the issues I’m working on as a member of the Women's Business Council.
"Of course, diversity in business is just one way we can advance the empowerment of women around the world, and I am passionate about supporting the needs of women in the developing world, as well. Equal opportunity for women in education and in local economies is critical to lifting women out of poverty around the world. As a business leader, I am committed to shedding more light on this important issue, which is why I'm supporting #PledgeforParity for International Women's Day 2016."
