International Women's Day 2019 #BalanceForBetter

When: March 8 2019

Where: El Paso, United States

Better the balance, better the world

The General Casimir Pulaski Polish-American Society of El Paso together with the International Women’s Day Committee would like to invite you to the 3RD Annual International Women's Day on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Coronado Country Club.

International Women’s Day has been celebrated around the world for more than 100 years and the 2019 global campaign theme is #BalanceForBetter, calling for a more gender- balanced world.

Each year on this day, the Inspirational Woman of the Year award is presented to one exceptional woman, making a noteworthy impact on life of others in the El Paso, Las Cruces, and Cd. Juarez region for her achievements, contributions and the engagement in the community. It’s our great honor to present this year’s award to Dr. Diana Natalicio, recognizing her visionary leadership and extraordinary service as the President of University of Texas at El Paso since 1988, which profoundly transformed the community and the lives of young people on both sides of the border. Dr. Natalicio won H.W. McGraw Prize in Education, was inducted into the TX Women’s Hall of Fame, and named one of 100 most influential people by Time Magazine in 2016.

Driven to improve the wellness of our community we have committed to donate proceeds to local charities, including Center Against Sexual and Family Violence and El Paso Villa Maria shelter in past years. This year we have chosen El Paso Pro-Musica, a local non- profit, enriching our community through music and making the art of chamber music available to our community, including underserved areas and by bringing professional artists of international stature to El Paso. We thank our generous sponsors for making our goals possible.

First lady of El Paso, Adair Margo, who is passionate about our rich and diverse cultural heritage, will give a keynote speech at this year’s event. She served as chairwoman of the U.S. President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. She received the Presidential Citizens Medal from President George W. Bush and the Order of the Aztec Eagle medal, Mexico's highest award for a non-citizen for strengthening international relations through the arts. She is the founder of the Tom Lea Institute and helped create the FEMAP Foundation. She believes that culture can provide common ground amid tensions and initiate dialogues between opposing groups.

Please join us for an evening with inspiring role models and conversations that matter- all in a wonderful celebratory atmosphere.
We invite both women and men to participate.
