1. Introduction

These terms of use govern your use of internationalwomensday.com (the "website"), which is run by IWD Support Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By using the website you accept these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the website.

Anyone may browse the website. You must be at least 16 years of age to register for an account or to submit content.

How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy, and how we use cookies is explained in our cookies policy.

2. Licence to use the website

Unless otherwise stated, we or our licensors own the intellectual property rights in the website and the material on it. All these rights are reserved, subject to the licence below.

You may view, download for caching purposes only, and print pages from the website for your own personal use, subject to the restrictions in these terms.

You must not:

sell, rent or sub-license material from the website;
reproduce, duplicate, copy or otherwise exploit material on the website for a commercial purpose; or
redistribute material from the website, except content we specifically and expressly make available for sharing or redistribution.

3. Acceptable use

You must not use the website in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the website or impairs its availability or accessibility, or in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful, or in connection with any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose or activity.

You must not use the website to copy, store, host, send, publish or distribute any material that consists of (or is linked to) spyware, a computer virus, Trojan horse, worm, keystroke logger, rootkit or other malicious software.

You must not carry out any systematic or automated data collection on or in relation to the website (including scraping, data mining, data extraction, data harvesting, or collecting content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models) without our express written consent.

You must not use the website to send unsolicited commercial communications.

4. Registered users

Some areas of the website are only available to registered users. To register, you must be at least 16 and complete the online registration form. You confirm that the information you give us is true, accurate and complete, and you agree to keep it up to date.

Your login is your email address and a password you choose. You must keep your password confidential, and tell us immediately at info@internationalwomensday.com if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account. You are responsible for activity on your account that results from a failure to keep your account details confidential.

You must not use another person's account without their express permission.

We may suspend or close accounts, and remove information associated with them, where we reasonably believe an account breaches these terms or is inactive, fake or being misused. You can ask us to close your account at any time using Send account deletion request on your account page.

5. Content you submit

"Your content" means any material you submit to the website, including text, images, captions, weblinks, speaker profiles, supplier listings, gallery images, News & Views items, events, articles and statements.

Licence. You keep ownership of your content. By submitting it, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, reproduce, adapt, translate, distribute and otherwise use your content in any media or format, including on the IWD website, IWD social media channels and in promotional communications. You also grant us the right to sub-license these rights, and to take action against anyone who infringes them. We are not obliged to publish your content, and we don't guarantee to credit you when we use it.

Notes that you send to the IWD team with a submission are for us only and are not published.

Your promises. By submitting content, you confirm that:

you own it, or are authorised to submit it and to grant the licence above;
you have the permission of any person who appears in, or is identifiable from, your content (and, for anyone under 18, the permission of their parent or guardian); and
your content complies with these terms.

What is not allowed. Your content (and its publication on the website) must not:

be unlawful, or infringe any person's legal rights, including copyright, trade mark, privacy, confidentiality or data protection rights;
be defamatory, or false, inaccurate or misleading;
be obscene, indecent, pornographic or sexually explicit;
be gratuitously violent, or encourage violence, self-harm or the commission of a crime;
be threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, discriminatory or inflammatory, or breach equality or hate crime law;
contain advice or instructions that could, if acted on, cause illness, injury, death or other loss;
be in contempt of court, or breach a court order or a contractual obligation owed to any person;
be spam, or contain malicious software; or
link to material that would break these rules if it were posted on the website.

Review and removal. We review some submissions, such as speaker profiles, supplier listings, gallery images and News & Views items, before they are published, but we don't check that content is accurate and we don't monitor everything published on the website. We may edit, decline or remove any content at any time.

6. Reporting content and complaints

If you see content on the website that you believe is illegal, harmful, inaccurate or infringes your rights, or if you want to complain about how we have handled your content or your account, please email info@internationalwomensday.com. Tell us where the content is and why you are concerned. We will review every report, take action where appropriate (which may include removing content or suspending an account), and let you know the outcome.

7. Information on the website

Much of the information on the website is submitted by users. We do not warrant that information on the website is complete or accurate, and we do not commit to keeping the website available or its material up to date.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to the website and its use (including any warranties implied by law of satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and/or the use of reasonable care and skill).

8. Limits on our liability

Nothing in these terms will:

limit or exclude our or your liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence;
limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
limit or exclude any of our or your liabilities in any way that is not permitted under applicable law.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:

we will not be liable for any losses arising from events beyond our reasonable control;
we will not be liable for any business losses, including loss of profits, income, revenue, anticipated savings, business, contracts, commercial opportunities or goodwill;
we will not be liable for any loss or corruption of data, databases or software; and
we will not be liable for any special, indirect or consequential loss or damage.

These limits apply to all liability arising under or in connection with these terms, whether in contract, in tort (including negligence), for breach of statutory duty or otherwise.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against any losses, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal expenses and any amounts we pay to a third party to settle a claim on the advice of our legal advisers) that we incur as a result of your breach of these terms, or of any claim that you have breached them.

10. Breaches of these terms

If you breach these terms, or we reasonably suspect that you have, we may take any action we consider appropriate, including:

sending you a warning;
editing or removing your content;
suspending or closing your account, or blocking your access to the website; and
taking legal action against you.

If we suspend or block your access, you must not try to get around it, for example by creating a new account.

11. Other websites

The website links to websites run by others. These links are not recommendations. We have no control over those websites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.

12. Trade marks and the IWD logo

The IWD logos are our trade marks and may only be used with our written permission; see the IWD logo guidelines and request use of the logo.

Other trade marks on the website belong to their respective owners. Unless stated otherwise, we are not affiliated with, and do not endorse, the owners of those trade marks.

13. Purchases

We don't currently sell anything through the website. If we do in future, separate terms will apply and will be made available to you at the time.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated terms apply from the date they are published on the website; the date at the top shows when they were last changed. Please check this page from time to time.

15. General

Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if our business or the website is sold, without needing your consent. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms.

Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect. If an unlawful or unenforceable provision would be lawful or enforceable if part of it were deleted, that part will be treated as deleted and the rest will remain in effect.

Third parties. These terms are between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce them.

Entire agreement. These terms, together with any additional terms that apply to particular services, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the website. Our privacy policy and cookies policy explain how we handle personal information and cookies.

16. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to them.

This website is delivered as a free, not-for-profit philanthropic service by IWD Support Ltd, registered in England & Wales (company number 03979744), VAT number GB 757098588. Any surplus arising from this website and its related activities is retained and reinvested solely to support this service. Launched in 2001 as a means to publicly share gender-related events and resources before social media platforms existed, the website has continued to elevate and support IWD activity ever since.
