Art on a Postcard celebrates International Women’s Day with its first All-female Charity Auction and Exhibition

In Partnership with AllBright

Auction online at 27 Feb - 11 March

Private View Monday 2 March 2020

AllBright, 24-26 Maddox St, Mayfair, London W1S 1PP

Art on a Postcard will curate the first all-female auction of original postcard sized art to observe International Women’s Day in March 2020. A list of outstanding women in the arts has been carefully chosen from those whose work has transformed stereotypes and made a significant impact on society and culture.

The line-up includes luminaries such as Harmony Hamond, who has recently had her first European solo show at Bermondsey’s White Cube, the world renowned Guerrilla Girls, an anonymous group of feminist, female artists who have been devoted to fighting sexism and racism within the art world since 1985 and Caroline Coon whose artwork explores sexual themes from a feminist standpoint and who has exhibited at The Tate and The Saatchi Gallery. Also confirmed are Genieve Figgis, Anne Tallentire, Ellen Gronemeyer, Alejandra Hernández, Celia Hempton, Katherine Bernhardt, Orkideh Torabi, Yulia Iosilzon and Helen Johnson.

The reserve price for all the featured postcard sized works of art will start at £50. The auction will take place on from 27 Feb – 11 March 2020.

Art on a Postcard will partner with AllBright, the members’ clubs designed by and for women, who are committed to working with and supporting women artists. Monday 2 March 2020 will see a packed day of events and talks at AllBright in Mayfair, featuring some of the participating women artists and culminating in a private view and drinks reception.

This auction will raise money to eliminate hepatitis C in women’s prisons. The Hepatitis C Trust has been working extensively in prisons across the UK as part of their campaign to eliminate hepatitis C by 2025. The Trust is addressing elimination across the female estate prior to the larger male estate. There is evidence to suggest that treating women has a greater impact on their local communities and subsequently society as a whole.

‘We are known for our Secret Auctions” says Gemma Peppé founder and director of Art on a Postcard. “however we want to shout about all the fantastic women taking part in this iteration of Art on a Postcard and show off their wonderful work, so this time you will know who you are bidding on.”
