International Women's Day High Tea
When: March 8 2020
Where: Brisbane, Australia
Local business women Jody Allison, Kirsty Fields and Judith Newton together with The Belvedere Hotel, Woody Point will host the International Women's Day High Tea on Sunday 8th March 2020 for Social Ocean.
In tropical Queensland style, this event sees your hosts coordinating a truly celebratory day including a line-up of guests - women doing inspiring things in life and career - who are empowering others around the world to do similar.
Join them for a day where they highlight the 2020 theme #EachforEqual with keynote speaker Jennifer Wittwer, CSM, FAHRI.
Charity of choice for this event is Share the Dignity, who will be the recipient of proceeds from the day as well as the International Women's Day High Tea being a collection point for the #Itsinthebag campaign for the organisation.
Jennifer provides specialised services to help organisations address the challenges of women’s participation and representation in male-dominated workplaces around the world. Including leading the implementation of the United Nations (UN) Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda within the ADF and the broader defence and security sector. She has participated in various North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and UN forums and projects relating to WPS and women’s representation in armed forces, and she deployed as the first ADF gender adviser to NATO operations in Afghanistan in 2013.
Since her last ADF role, when she was seconded to UN Women in New York as a policy specialist on peacekeeping and sexual exploitation and abuse, Jennifer has contracted to UN Women Ukraine to develop a training framework on gender and WPS, and authored a course on sexual violence in conflict and gender equality in peacekeeping for the Peace Operations Training Institute in the United States.
Share the Dignity is an Australian Charity bringing dignity to women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and period poverty through the distribution of sanitary items.
