Global Women's Conference

Waterford Integration Services in collaboration with Europe Direct Information Centre, Waterford City Library, Waterford Cultural Quarter and Waterford City & County Council is hosting a Global Women’s’ Conference on Tuesday the 10th of March to coincide with International Women’s Day.
The focus is on Empowering Women as key actors for Integration and Economic Development as a direct response to their commitment to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals in Waterford and the Southeast.
They address issues affecting migrant women and their families by highlighting inequalities and social exclusion, policy development and research, education, income poverty, women and health, politics and decision-making, combating racism and discrimination, young women and human rights.
This Conference will attract local and global speakers, women activists, academics, policymakers and community delegates to participate in the important dialogue of Migrant Women and the SDG’s.
The programme consists of keynote speakers, global storytelling, academics, conference panel discussion, round table discussions, and workshops interspersed with mini cultural performances, information stands and the launch of the Shakti Women's Social Enterprise Programme Intercultural Quilt.
The Conference will take place at Garter Lane Theatre, O’Connell Street, which is within Waterford Cultural Quarter.
