When: March 8, 2024

Where: Sydney, Australia

Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens Dr Mehreen Faruqi is delighted to be hosting her tenth annual International Women's Day breakfast on Friday 8 March 2024.

This event is known for its honest and radical discussion, and hearing from women of colour and First Nations women.

Previous speakers have included Sarah Malik, Lynda-June Coe, Dr Umber Rind, Celeste Liddle, Kween G, Nayuka Gorrie, Roanna Gonsalves, Saman Shad, Nakkiah Lui, Randa Abdel-Fattah, Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts, Diana Sayed, and many more.

This year our speaker will be researcher and activist Heba Al-Adawy. Another speaker will be announced soon.

Heba Al-Adawy - straddles the worlds of activism, academia and policy to untangle systemic racism and pursue political justice.  She has organised for women war survivors from Bosnia, worked on justice for Palestine and has amplified youth-led struggles for climate justice in the Global South. Growing up in Pakistan, Heba brings a Global South positionality to her research and activism.  She is currently finishing her PhD on youth movements and militarization in South Asia at ANU.
