INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026

All cis and trans women, non-binary and gender diverse people of all size, colour, race, sexuality, identity, religion and culture plus our allies and comrades are welcome and encouraged to attend.

WHEN: SATURDAY 7 MARCH, 10:30 AM

WHERE: TARNTANYANGGA / VICTORIA SQUARE

The march takes place on the lands of the Kaurna people and was never ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

GETTING THERE
• There’s lots of bus and tram stops around Tarntanyangga and you can plan your trip here- adelaidemetro.com.au/plan -a-trip/
• Paid parking available nearby at the Central Market and Gawler Place.

AT TARNTANYANGGA / V ICTORIA SQUARE
• A Welcome to Country and speeches will occur before we march.
• Our speakers will be using microphones, and will talk about the themes of safety, equality, and respect.

DURATION & LANDSCAPE
• The rally will last for around 90 minutes.
• People will be standing, walking or using mobility aids.
• There are a few benches to sit on in the square, or seating on steps nearby.

THE ROUTE FOR THE MARCH
1. Start march at Tarntangangga, and head north up King William Street.
2. Then turn right, and head east down Rundle Mall
3. Turn right and head south down Pulteney Street
4. Finish march at Mukata /Hindmarsh Square (south west quadrant ) where we will gather and close.
Pavers along Rundle Mall may sometimes create uneven terrain.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE MARCH
• You can stay or leave at any time.
• There will be noise, including shouting/yelling, chanting, clapping, whistling, and music.
• You can choose when to participate in things like chanting, singing and responding to call outs.
• Marshals can help you navigate crowds.
• It will be crowded, people will be holding signs and flags - you may be touched by flags, banners or people moving by.
• There will be speeches at Tarntanyangga.
• Some people might bring pets.
• Police will be present.
• An allocated group of people will start the rally, holding a large banner. You may need to make way for them to reach the front of the rally.
• Free bottled water will be available at Tarntanyangga.
• Sun protection is encouraged, and sunscreen will be available at Tarntanyangga.
• There may be Fringe activations, performances and / or buskers in Rundle Mall. You may need to walk around them, and Marshals will help you traverse Rundle Mall.

CONTENT WARNING AND SUPPORT
Speeches and signs at the rally will cover:
• Domestic, family and sexual violence
• Women’s rights to choose
• Sexual harassment and gendered violence
• Pro-choice slogans and images
• Other potentially triggering topics
YOU’RE FREE TO LEAVE AT ANY TIME OR APPROACH A MARSHAL FOR SUPPORT.

TRAINED MARCH MARSHALS
• Will be wearing high-vis vests
• Please listen if they ask you to do something. They are there to keep everyone safe.
• Ask the Marshals if you need any help.
• Marshals will also be in contact with a designated police liaison.

HEALTH PRECAUTIONS
Attendees are encouraged to take precautions for the health of themselves and others and are welcome to wear masks at the event.
Please do not attend the event if you are experiencing COVID-19 or cold and flu-like symptoms

RECORDINGS AND PHOTOGRAPHS
This is a public event and there will be people and / or media taking photographs and video at the event.
We cannot ensure that you will not be recorded at the event.
