Give to Gain: Building Strength Through Support

At Rexel USA, I have spent much of my career witnessing a powerful truth, when we choose to give, we create space for others to rise, and in that rising, we all move forward together.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, resonates deeply with me because it reflects not only my personal journey, but the collective potential of organizations and communities committed to empowering women.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from women who gave generously. Their time, their knowledge and their honesty. Their mentorship was not about making my path easier, it was about making me stronger. They helped me understand that progress often requires tough choices, self awareness and the courage to own the life you have built. Their investment in me was intentional. It shaped who I am as a leader and inspired me to keep that cycle of generosity in motion.
That same belief is what led me to champion Rexel’s Employee Relief Fund. I’ve seen firsthand how even a small amount of assistance can change the trajectory of someone’s life. Helping one another through hardship isn’t charity, it’s humanity. It’s how we build workplaces rooted in trust, dignity and compassion. When people feel supported, they show up stronger and more capable of achieving their potential.
This idea of giving to gain is also reflected in Women in Rexel (WIRe), a community that promotes collaboration, encourages development, and inspires empowerment by creating an environment that recognizes the value of our diversity. WIRe embodies what it means to give of ourselves in ways that help others advance, knowing that the return is a stronger, more inclusive culture for all of us.
Our industry is exciting, and there is a role for everyone.
When we create an environment where women are encouraged to grow, supported in their challenges, and celebrated in their achievements, the entire organization becomes stronger.
