Book IWD Speaker: Nadia Azizabadi

Water safety educator, TEDx speaker & founder of From Zero to Hero, empowering multicultural adults & women to feel safe & confident in water

Nadia Azizabadi is a TEDx speaker, water safety advocate, and founder of From Zero to Hero — an Australian social-impact swimming and ocean safety program supporting adults, migrants and women entering aquatic environments for the first time.

Drawing from her own lived experience as an adult learner, Nadia delivers engaging, highly relatable presentations that dismantle fear, build confidence, and highlight critical drowning-prevention awareness in culturally diverse communities.

Her work addresses a widely overlooked risk in Australia: many migrant adults cannot swim, while their children learn first — creating a dangerous gap in family water safety. Nadia speaks powerfully on empowerment, belonging, inclusion and breaking generational barriers through swimming, snorkelling, and diving.

Nadia is available for keynote talks, community events, school programs, women’s leadership sessions and PD workshops for teachers and aquatic staff. Her presentations have supported universities, schools and community groups across Victoria, inspiring hundreds to step into the water for the first time.

She believes water is not just a skill — it is safety, freedom and a pathway to opportunity.
