Ada Ibezi is a British-Nigerian Domestic Abuse Thriver, Cancer Survivor, Founder of Against Domestic Abuse, Chair for the Metropolitan Police Violence Against Women and Girls’ Independent Advisory Group and an experienced international Speaker and an Expert-by-Experience Panellist.

She is a Silence-breaker and the Voice for the Voiceless women survivors.

She is passionate about breaking the silence, shame and stigma around domestic abuse.  

As a Speaker, Ada is inspiring, captivating, and unique as she combines her lived experience of domestic abuse, passion for education, and almost two decades of successful teaching.

She holds an MA in Education, Health Promotion and International Development, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with QTS, and a BA (Hons.) in International Marketing with Spanish.

Ada is the Chair of the Metropolitan Police Violence Against Women and Girls Independent Advisory Group.

She is involved in the Metropolitan Police’s Community-Centred Learning as a Speaker, Facilitator and Panellist with expertise on Domestic Abuse.

She is a Lived-Experience Trustee for KidsOut UK, a national UK children’s charity and has spoken at several fundraising events.  

As a hybrid of two cultures, Nigerian and British, Ada is culturally responsive and understands the challenges that the global majority - at home and in the diaspora -  face when it comes to speaking up about domestic abuse.

Through Ada’s storytelling, the audience will be taken on a journey that immerses them in her treacherous flight from domestic abuse to freedom, and shows her vulnerability, courage, resilience and determination to overcome adversity and thrive.

Her incredible story highlights how she moved from victim to survivor and finally to thriver.

Ada understands the crippling effect that the trauma of domestic abuse causes and the struggles that survivors face as they rebuild their lives after fleeing due to her lived experience.

As a former pastor’s wife, she embodies the intersectionality between race, gender, culture, faith, and domestic abuse.

Her eloquence and empathy fill the audience with hope.  

Ada has appeared on BBC Radio 4 Today, The Evening Standard and various podcasts.

She has been a Speaker at events, including International Women’s Day (IWD), in the UK and internationally, for organisations, such as, Hestia, the Metropolitan Police Service, KidsOut UK, Queen Mary University London, Equality Trust, London Metropolitan University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nigeria, National Female Students’ Association of Nigeria (Southwest), Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, Africa Resource Centre for Excellence in the Supply Chain Management (ARC_ESM) Nigeria.
