Anar Simpson

Key influencer for women, girls and technology with work spanning grassroots level to the policy level with NGOs & governments

Anar is a strategic partnerships guru and a growth hacker.

She is also a key influencer for Women, Girls and Technology. She led this initiative at Mozilla and was appointed as a Deputy to the UN High Level Panel on Women's Economic Empowerment.

She is the Global Ambassador for Technovation and has grown the program to over 100 countries.

Anar works with governments, international agencies and technology companies for partnerships and support of the digital inclusion of women.

In addition she has been instrumental in the growth, outreach and experience of the US State Department’s TechWomen initiative which empowers, connects and supports the next generation of women leaders from Africa, Central and South Asia, and the Middle East with their counterparts in Silicon Valley.

On their return these women have had demonstrable impact in their communities.

She is Member of the Board of Directors at CARE Canada, Technovation and an Advisory Board Member of Women in Public Service at the Wilson Centre as well as the Banff Forum.

Her partnership and advocacy efforts have included: Mozilla, Facebook, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Twitter, Linkedin, United Nations, Institute of International Education, USAID, US Dept. of State, World Bank, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Resilient Africa Network, Safaricom, Common Sense Media, etc.

She has been an invited speaker at the CHIME4Change, GSMA, IEEE Women in Engineering, Grace Hopper Celebration for Women, White House United State of Women (USOW), UNESCO, ICT4D, Women's Forum Global, WISTEM, Women's Forum Global, LInkedIn Hackathon, Silicon Valley Business Forum, IEEE Leadership, OpenText WIT, etc.

Her work has been recognized by: Silicon Valley Business Journal Women of Influence Award (2017) GSMA Global Mobile Leadership Awards (2017), ITU- UN Women GEM-TECH Award (2016),University of Calgary Distinguished Alumna Award (2015).
