SheFest presents Wigs and Women's Stories of Cancer on Screen
When: March 5 2018
Where: Sheffield, United Kingdom
Wig-wearing is a part of most women’s experiences of cancer treatment, and they are a stock storyline in cancer stories on screen.
In this talk, Dr Williams discusses clips from hit shows such as Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives, through to independent short films such as Cancer Hair.
How critical are these representations of mainstream "cancer culture"? Do they subvert gender stereotypes of illness, or simply bolster them?
Dr Seán Williams
Time & Date:
Monday 5 March, 6-7pm
The Holt, 156 Arundel street, Sheffield S1 4RE
