From registered grassroots groups through to large-scale global philanthropic entities, the impact by such groups on women's advancement can be truly effective. 
 

Make IWD a pivotal moment to support women-focused charities 

Anyone, anywhere, can help fundraise for women's charities to drive much-needed support.

While financial donations are very important and appreciated by charities, the giving of time, resources and professional services is also valued.

Even helping raise positive awareness about the existence and work of various women-focused charities, or distributing their information and resources, can prove incredibly beneficial.

Inviting speakers from women-focused charities to participate and/or speak at International Women's Day (IWD) events is a specific and key request for IWD 2025, as is the request to nominate a specific charity to be the recipient of your IWD charitable support activity.

IWD GIVING is a call-to-action for individuals, groups and organizations worldwide to actively do what they can on IWD to extend their support to women-focused charities.

Anyone can help support the work and success of women-focused charities, or charities that maintain a gender focus within their wider remit.  

IWD is a movement. Historically, the day has existed since 1911 and continues to provide an important moment for collective action by gender equality advocates worldwide. Everyone, everywhere can participate in IWD and that's what makes it so inclusive - not exclusive. A large part of the IWD ethos is to actively Support the Supporters. To always involve as many diverse and wide-ranging groups as possible and support them in their efforts to forge gender equality.
 

What is IWD GIVING?

For many years, the IWD website has actively encouraged and helped facilitate direct donations to a wide range of women-focused registered charities, with the largest single known amount being a hefty six-figure financial sum. As always, importantly, 100% of the financial donation was paid directly to the registered charity. Again, this is part of the incredibly important "Support the Supporters" ethos that consistently underpins and guides IWD.

Through IWD GIVING, donors collaborate directly with the charities to provide both financial and in-kind support, and in many cases long-term high-impact relationships have ensued continuously over many years.

With such proven success of charities being supported, it is an obvious direction to open up IWD GIVING to many further registered charities worldwide.

Furthermore, there's an incredible untapped opportunity to be seized. If every IWD event on the planet included an element of support for women-focused registered charities, imagine the incredible opportunity to accelerate action.  

To support this mission, a brand new collaborative IWD GIVING DIRECTORY is being built up over time as a practical and fundamental resource for IWD Event Managers, organizations, and donors who believe in the spirit of collective momentum.

The IWD GIVING Directory already lists a diverse range of registered charities across various, working to forge gender equality in a wide range of ways and by various means.
 

Ways to participate in IWD GIVING 

There are so many fabulous ways to get involved in IWD GIVING.

It is through collective collaboration that IWD GIVING can be successful and, as such, will help accelerate action for women worldwide. 

Please consider some of the ways below that hopefully may align with your IWD activity. 

1. Donate financially to a women-focused registered charity directly 
    
2. Invite a charity to attend and participate in your IWD event
    
3. Fund the ticket cost for charity personnel to attend IWD event
    
4. Invite a charity to speak at your IWD event
    
5. Host a charity stall at your IWD event  
    
6. Distribute information and/or resources from a charity at your IWD event
    
7. Introduce a women-focused charity to your company
    
8. Tell charities when you see relevant grants made available
    
9. Tell your favorite charity about IWD GIVING and invite them to participate
    
10. Comment, like and/or re-post the social media posts of women-focused charities
     
11. Include a weblink from your website to a women-focused charity
     
12. Volunteer and offer your services to your favorite women-focused charity
     
13. Write articles about the work and impact of your favorite women-focused charity
     
14. Actively participate in activity your favorite women-focused charity may be hosting
