Throughout the Club, there are many players, coaches and community supporters who are actively championing equality in sport.

There is no finish line

Essendon Football Club believes that there is no finish line. "We will continue to #PressforProgress and drive inclusion through our pathways for female footballers and females in the sporting industry until gender equality is no longer a topic of conversation. The club’s VFL Women's program provides a pathway for women from Australia's North-West Melbourne, the Tiwi Islands and West Arnhem Land to continue their journey towards playing at the elite level," explains Xavier Campbell, a motivated leader for championing equality in sports.

Equal treatment and exposure of women is key

"Essendon Football Club is committed to providing a positive contribution to the development of the game at a grassroots level. It’s important players from our men’s and women’s football programs are positive role models in the community, and we believe working with young players is an important step in inspiring the next generation of female football fans, players, sports administers and sports women throughout the industry," espouses Xavier Campbell who is keen to motivate further leaders of sporting clubs around the world to #PressforProgress for women's equality in sport.
