ZURI Exceptional Women Awards 2021

Zuri Awards was inaugurated in 2017 and takes place during the week of International Women’s Day.

The event takes place annually in line with IWD theme by recognising and supporting exceptional women who are dedicated to creating positive change through work in their communities, inspiring other women through exceptional displays of leadership or rising against all odds and being courageous in the face of adversity.

The key focus of Zuri Awards is Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 which focuses on Gender Equality.

The judging of the nominees is done by a group of expert jury and we look at impact in the following 15 categories:

Young Achiever


Public Service

Arts and Culture






Zuri Awards targets unsung women heroes in the Kenyan community and we have seen 350% year on year growth from the nomination applicants 2017.

Our focus is to highlight our nominees key successes through Digital stories, showcasing their work through Expo and finally awarding them during with a networking Gala Dinner Award ceremony with the government, NGOs and our partners. Zuri Awards Nominees are also mentored and their projects are adapted to ensure continuity beyond just the Gala Dinner.
