Derby joins the global celebrations with this popular inspiring annual festival organised entirely by volunteers on Saturday 10th March 2018, 10am-4pm, Derby Market Place & QUAD, Cathedral Quarter Derby, Derbyshire, UK.
FREE entry – donations appreciated.
All genders, all communities together with lots for children to enjoy including soft play area run by Dedicated Active Dads.
Celebrate with uplifting performances, inspiring speakers including Jasvinder Sanghera and Dr Frances Ryan, 40+ stalls & activities, arts & crafts, sports, HERstory exhibitions & family fun under a huge marquee on Derby Market Place - the spot where the Suffargettes spoke in our city.
Hourly inspiring workshops at QUAD are:
11am: Boost Your Self-Belief with Zahra Butt & Beverley Burton, Second Chance Learning Academy.
12pm: Get Inspired: Rebel Women past and present - our inspiring panellists discuss their favourite HERoes from HERstory and today - share yours too!
1pm: Turn Your Pain into Your Power with inspirational speaker Jasvinder Sanghera, founder of Karma Nirvana and global campaigner against forced marraige and honour based abuse for 25 years.
2pm: Speak Up on Ableism with inspiring guest speaker Dr Frances Ryan, who writes for the Guardian and is a disability and women's rights campaigner.
3pm: Shake-Up Politics – a panel with women in local politics and activism - ask your questions and join the discussion on how politics can change the world for women and girls.
After the day of festivities we will have a Suffragette Memorial March, marking 100 years since the first women won the right to vote in the UK, meet at 4pm, Market Place to join the march of about 20-30mins, accessible route, around the city centre – bring a banner, sing along, wear purple or even dress as a Suffragette. You can make a Suffragette sash during the day at the Vox Feminarum stall.
