We’re campaigning for balance
Ann Messenger FIML, Chair, IML
On the 22nd anniversary of the Institute of Managers and Leaders' ANZ’s Great Debate, we’re campaigning for balance - in the workplace, in leadership and in society. In two decades, our society has come a long way in acknowledging the importance of women and providing them with opportunities and recognition they deserve. However, across the world - from the workplace to education to politics – women are still facing prejudice, intolerance and inequality. Indeed, there is still considerable progress to be made to achieve gender equality.
Gender equality isn’t just a good model for business, it’s a good model for society. At the Institute of Managers and Leaders we believe in “creating better managers and leaders for a better society”, and a better society includes the equal and fair treatment of women.
By developing, championing and celebrating women in leadership, the Institute believes it is making an important step towards achieving balance. Through our Inclusion Matters policy, the Institute is committed to providing equal opportunities to all staff and Members. This diversity scheme has seen our organisation recruit top talent with women in 60% of the Leadership Team and 60% of the Board.
Through events like our annual International Women’s Day Great Debate we seek to change Australian society for the better.
We couldn’t be prouder to be an International Women’s Day partner, and part of the #BalanceForBetter campaign. Change is needed and it can’t come soon enough.
