Committed to gender parity

"One of the things that keeps me up at night is how gender diversity can be improved, particularly in the technology sector.

"Women already comprise almost a fifth of our technology workforce and are almost a third of our workforce overall. One of our biggest talent goals is to hire more women into Tyro and take active steps to retain our top performing women. We have flexible working practices and genuinely encourage work-life balance for all employees. We also conduct blind resume screening, have invested in unconscious bias training for our people, we ensure a female interviewer on every selection panel and we work with our recruitment partners aiming for shortlists to be comprised of at least half female candidates.

"At Tyro, we publish our gender pay gap per function to all employees at Tyro. It was a controversial exercise but we wanted to show our people that we're very committed to gender parity and will work to adjust any gaps in salary identified between men and women in like roles.

"I have committed to our people to update them on the status of each of our equality-focused initiatives in our all-company stand-ups so that I as CEO remain accountable on the promises that I have made, and we’re maintaining a dashboard to demonstrate our progress. I’m a firm believer that the status quo on gender diversity in organisations is not acceptable and that we need to do better with regard to gender equity. I don’t want to look back on my career, wishing I had done more, pushed harder or implemented initiatives more quickly to improve gender inequity.”

Tyro fully embraces and has adopted the #BeBoldForChange theme and we are endeavouring to run activity supporting this agenda all year on a monthly basis.
